Getting dirty! I spend a ton of time preparing all the wood before you place your order! I am going to give you a peak at what I do for preparation before we design and add your photo's to the wood boards. Here is how it's done!
Rough Oak Boards
1)I purchase oak boards
Cutting oak boards
2) I cut all the boards to the sizes I offer. Notice I buy thick boards!
Adding a keyhole in wood
3) I measure and drill a keyhole in the back so you can hang them flush against the wall or sit them on a shelf.
4) I sand each board with my belt sander then I hand sand each board with a soft sandpaper.
Photo boards cut and ready to stain
5) All the sides should be smooth!
Adding a logo on an oak board
6) I add my logo to the back of each board
Staining oak boards for plaques
7) I stain each board a dark english walnut
8) I use a tack cloth to wipe each one down. Now I am ready to seal them! I use a satin or semi gloss polyurethane. I coat the back of each board 4 times. I soft sand between each coat giving 12-24 hours to dry between each coat. My counter stays full for a few days!!
