I have been looking for a piece of furniture for over a year to solve my dog food storage space. I bought one of those tall plastic bins years ago to store my dog food. With 3 dogs, we buy the big bag at Sam's Club. My pantry seemed like it was taken over with dog food, treats, meds and anything else. I did not feel organized at all! I brain stormed for a long time about my storage issues. I googled and just didn't see anything that would solve all my problems. My dogs eat twice per day. I have one that does not like to eat standing near the other two. I am tired of looking at all these bowls on my kitchen floor. I FINALLY found my solution!! I bought an antique secretary desk off Craigslist. I cut off the drawers and nailed the facing of the drawers back on. I added a tote inside to store my dog food. I cut a hole in the desk top inside so I could scoop out the dog food. I took out the mail organizer they had inside and I was so happy it came off in tact. I sat it on a shelf for all my leashes. Now I have my pet urns, leashes, meds, heart worm pills, treats and food all in one place! I also displayed my pet urns on a shelf. I am so excited to have all the food out of my pantry! I now store the bowls inside and only bring them out twice per day when they eat. I only have a water dish sitting on my floor! YAY! I have a nice piece of furniture in my kitchen. I added wood letters to the drop down desk lid. I used Annie Sloan chalk paint and soft wax for the finish. I loved this project so much that I also bought a hutch off craigslist and finished it to match. I am going to tackle my kitchen cabinets and island next! Stay tuned!
